Vladimir Putin has sent a direct warning to the UK and NATO that Russia will declare war if Ukrainian forces launched Western supplied long-range cruise missiles inside the Russian Federation.
President Volodymyr Zelensky has been pushing hard on Washington and London to allow his troops to use the British supplied Storm Shadow cruise missiles and the US ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile) System to strike military targets deep inside Russia.
The Guardian newspaper reported that Downing Street will not make the announcement public and anonymous sources have said “it would be considered unnecessarily provocative.”

The Guardian said that Sir Keir Starmer or the Defence Secretary are unlikely to speak publicly over the decision following a meeting in Washington today with the US President Joe Biden.
On Wednesday the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and the British Foreign Secretary David Lammy accused Moscow of “escalating” the war as Iran has supplied hundreds of ballistic missiles to Russia.
Putin warned that the use of UK and or US supplied weapons being used inside Russia will amount to NATO, Washington and London being directly involved in the Ukrainian conflict as the flight path of such weaponry will be supported by the alliance personnel.
Putin told Russian state television, “So this is not a question of allowing the Ukrainian regime to strike Russia with these weapons or not.
It is a question of deciding whether or not NATO countries are directly involved in a military conflict.
If this decision is taken, it will mean nothing less than the direct involvement of NATO countries, the US and European countries in the war in Ukraine.
This will be their direct participation, and this, of course, will significantly change the very essence – the very nature – of the conflict.
On Wednesday the Kremlin warned the US and the UK there will be an “appropriate response” if they allow the use of long-range weapons to be used deep inside Russia.
The Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it looks like Washington and London have already made the decision to allow Ukrainian forces to use the long-range missiles on Russia as Biden has said he is “not ruling out” lifting the ban on such weaponry.
Peskov said that the “collective West” have made a decision adding they have made “an additional confirmation of the justification, necessity and inevitability” with Vladimir Putin’s so called “special military operation.”
Putin’s comments echoed those made by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday that Russia would hand the West an “appropriate” response if it green-lit the missile deployments.
He said: “The involvement of the United States of America and European countries in the conflict over Ukraine is direct, and each new step increases the degree of this involvement.”
