The German Chancellor Angela Merkel has announced that all shops will reopen to ease lockdown restrictions, in a deal with the leaders of the 16 states.
Schools are gradually to reopen for this term, but general contact rules will remain in place and football is set to restart.
The 16 states across Germany have all agreed to take control of the timings to reopen and will act fast if a second coronavirus wave hits.
The German Bild newspaper said on Wednesday that they are to reopen, and shops of up to 800 sq m in size have been allowed to reopen, but customer must wear face masks with social distancing to remain in place.
Bars, restaurants, hotels and gyms will also be reopening, whilst Bavaria reported they will reopen restaurants on 18 May.
The tourism minister Thomas Bareiss is hoping that Germans will be able to go on holiday this summer, if the outbreak remains under control.
