The US President Joe Biden has hinted that he might allow Ukrainian forces to use their long-range supplied weapons deep inside Russia on military targets.
The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken who has arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday has also suggested the same in an interview with Sky News.
Blinken made the suggestion after Iran has sent hundreds of ballistic missiles to Russia which has been seen as an “escalation” in the war.
Blinken said that Washington has given Ukraine “what it needed, when it needed it, to be effective in repelling the Russian aggression” since the war started.

He said that ” What I can tell you is, we’ve adapted and adjusted every step along the way, and we’ll continue — so not ruling out at this stage” allowing Ukraine to use the more powerful weaponry inside Russia.
“(…) We never rule out. But when we rule in, we want to make sure it’s done in such a way that it can advance what the Ukrainians are trying to achieve,” Blinked said.
Blinken was asked if the US will lift restrictions allowing Ukraine to launch missiles into Russia, he told reporters at the White House that his administration was “working that out now.”
The British Foreign Secretary David Lammy has also arrived in Kiev with Blinken and they are calling for Ukraine to be allowed to use Western supplied weapons deep inside Russia.
During a joint press conference Lammy and Blinken said, “One of the purposes of the trip we will be taking together is to hear directly from the Ukrainian leadership including… President Zelensky about exactly how the Ukrainians see their needs in this moment, toward what objectives and what we can do to support those needs.
“All I can tell you is we will be listening intently to our Ukrainian partners, we will both be reporting back to the Prime Minister, to President Biden in the coming days and I fully anticipate this is something they will take up when they meet on Friday.”
Lammy was asked if Ukraine will be allowed to use the British supplied long-range missiles inside Russia, he said, “It’s hugely important that we’re travelling together to hear from our Ukrainian counterparts and President Zelensky their assessment of the situation on the ground and their needs on the ground.
“It would, however, be quite wrong to comment on the detail of operational issues in a forum such as this, because the only person who could benefit is Putin, and we will do nothing to give him any advantage in his illegal invasion.”
Lammy added, “Iran supplying Russia with ballistic missiles to fuel its illegal invasion of Ukraine is a significant and dangerous escalation.
“We have been clear in that any transfer of ballistic missiles by Iran would face a significant response. Today, alongside our international partners, we are calling out this behaviour and its attempts to undermine global security.
“Iran must stop supporting Putin’s unprovoked, premeditated and barbaric attack against a sovereign democratic state. The UK will stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes.”
